Chiropractic Adjustments
Adjustments—sometimes called manipulations—are small, targeted movements applied to the vertebrae of the spine. The goal is to address areas where the vertebrae may have shifted or lost their optimal alignment, which can occur from daily activities, physical stress, or more significant events such as automobile accidents. Even the natural birthing process can place strain on an infant’s spine and head, potentially contributing to issues as they grow.

When vertebrae are not moving or positioned as they should, it can influence the body as a whole, including the muscles and the nervous system. Proper alignment supports healthy nerve function, which is essential for the body to operate at its best.

A chiropractic adjustment typically involves a controlled force applied by hand or with a specialized instrument to help guide a vertebra back toward better motion or alignment. This may be done quickly or more gradually depending on the technique used and is often comfortable for the patient. You may hear a popping sound, known as joint cavitation, which is simply the release of gases—like oxygen and nitrogen—from the joint. This sound is not required for an adjustment to be effective.

Our adjustments are intended to support the body’s natural ability to adapt, heal, and function as it was designed to. Our doctors are trained in multiple chiropractic techniques, including Diversified, Thompson, Activator, Extremity Adjusting, and the Webster Technique. Each method is selected based on what best suits the individual needs of each patient.
